Invektivität und Öffentlichkeit
im Kontext der publizistischen Fehde gegen Herzog Ulrich von Württemberg
Abstract After Duke Ulrich of Württemberg murdered his equerry Hans von Hutten in May 1515, a journalistic vendetta began that ended in 1519 with the duke’s temporary expulsion. Ulrich von Hutten had supported his side with a literary campaign of agitation against the duke. Although his “Invectivarum cum aliis quibusdam in tyrannum Wirtenpergensem opus” is undoubtedly in the humanist tradition, it was also intended to serve for the first time in an apparently private conflict to depose an unpopular imperial prince. With the help of the invective concept, the communication situation as well as the meaning of these invectives will be redefined.
