Die „Causa Lutheri“ in der Pönitentiarie. Was Supplikanten über die Reformation in Deutschland berichten

Abstract In the registers of the Apostolic Penitentiary, the papal tribunal for penitence, confession and mercy, the name of „Luther“ appears in numerous supplications from German territories. These texts were written by contemporaries involved in one way or another in events related to the presence and doctrine of Luther in the German Reich. Most of these are „glimpses of modest lives“ (Arnold Esch). However, there are also traces left by some of the most important adversaries of the friar from Wittenberg ( Johannes Fabri, Konrad Kling and Johannes Debneck, known as Cochlaeus).
