Konzeption einer integrierten naturwissenschaftlichen Veranstaltung als Teil eines interdisziplinären Vernetzungsbereichs

Abstract

As part of the MINTplus project, the teacher training programme at the Technical University of Darmstadt was restructured at the beginning of the winter semester 2017/18. The interdisciplinary networking area was introduced as an innovative study element. Its courses are intended to provide a link between  previously disparate subjects subjects, each subdivided into the areas of content knowledge and didactical concepts, and connect them with educational sciences. A key innovation is the module “Knowledge Acquisition in Science”, which was conceived as a part of the follow-up project MINTplus2. The ensuing article aims at describing the emergence of this innovation and exploring how the networking area created a structural prerequisite for designing a module which results from the communication and cooperation between different disciplines and, consequently, transcends, the subject-specific boundedness of its inventors. Thus, in line with the topic of this issue, possibilities of interdisciplinary networking  are shown which generate added value to teacher education. Following the account of of the module’s development process, the course concept is explained and an insight into its initial implementation is given. Finally, exemplary student quotes are presented which suggest that the intended goal of networking was perceived by the target group.
