Designing Out-of-School Learning Sites The Example of the Jewish Cemetery in Güssing

Abstract This article is dedicated to the broad field of out-of-school historical learning sites. On the basis of a didactic project, it discusses how a historical site can be used for educational purposes. The Jewish cemetery in Güssing (Austria) serves as a concrete example for the didactical implementation as an authentic location for the teaching of local Jewish history. The article elaborates theoretical considerations and gives practical recommendations for such a project.
