„Ein wild verworrnes Tosen in der ewig düstren Luft“
Dichterische Gestaltung und handlungsimmanente Implikationen der Klangwelt in Dantes ,Inferno‘
Identifier (Artikel)
Abstract
The article analyses the soundscape of Dante’s ‘Inferno’ in its two components: on the one hand, the production of environmental sounds and noises, and on the other, the sounds produced by the (material and immaterial) vocal chords of the characters, starting with the first-person narrator. What emerges is a sound picture that is realistic in its parts but not in their reciprocal influence, in which the sounds (for example the human voice) are used for better characterisation of the characters and a more effective representation of their feelings and intentions.
