Abstract
Based on the project “Netzwerk Philologie und Schule” hosted by Freiburg university, this article makes an argument for a more pragmatic approach to including medieval topics in school teaching. While research often focuses on academic requirements regarding content, it is more important to consider the target audience (teachers, school students) and to create teaching opportunities for student teachers. The overall aim of the approach is to start a productive dialogue between universities and schools which can benefit both sides.
