Abstract

Empirical educational research, educational sciences, psychology, subject didactics, sociology and economics of education all represent different disciplines and areas of research that share education as their subject. Consequently, the demand for close collaboration among these and other related disciplines with regard to questions of professional practice has been voiced repeatedly in recent years. The present contribution elucidates these disciplines’ historical background, scientific context and contents, and it aims to determine the emergent benefit, structurally as well as content-related, that can be expected to result from an interdisciplinary cooperation of these six research perspectives.
