»Neuland!« verheißt Lust am Erkunden neuer und unkonventioneller Wege. »Neuland!« ruft die Unsicherheit des Bevorstehenden auf. Und weil jede Art des Beitrags akademischer Arbeit – ob analytisch oder synthetisch, rekonstruierend oder konstruktiv – immer Entdeckergeist, auch Unsicherheit und jedenfalls Faszination für das Noch-nicht-Gesehene verspricht, ist zuerst deutlich zu machen, wie Cursor_ im Speziellen »explorative Theologie« zu betreiben versucht. Was liegt daher für die erste Ausgabe näher, als diesen Neuaufbruch selbst zum Thema zu machen?
Die Beiträge dieser Ausgabe gehen auf unterschiedliche Weise der Frage nach der theologischen Entdeckung des Neuen nach.

Das Thema Identität hat Konjunktur - existentiell und politisch. Im Wechselspiel von individueller und kollektiver Identität türmen sich Identitätsfragen zu brisanten und komplexen Konfliktfeldern auf.Was blicken unterschiedliche Theoriekonzepte auf das Thema Identität? Muss Identitätsbildung notwendig zu Ausschluss oder Vereinnahmung des Anderen führen? Gibt es so etwas wie „christliche Identität“, und was ist das für Autor_innen unterschiedlicher Kontexte? Wie gelang es dem Urchristentum, christliche Identität in ethnisch gemischten Gruppen überhaupt auszubilden? Welche Zwänge und Widerstandsmöglichkeiten bieten religiöse Identitäten heute? In Form persönlicher Stellungnahme, Kontroversgespräech und theoretischer Auseinandersetzung gehen unsere Autor_innen diesen und weiteren virulenten Fragen nach.

What, if anything, can theology contribute to the analysis, conceptualization and assessment of the emergent logics of "the digital"? And how are theological concepts and topics themselves transformed by "the digital"? In an interdisciplinary and constructive collaboration, this volume explores developments refract notions of the human, concepts of freedom, memory and knowledge, as well as understandings of scripture as authority and interface.

Digitization is a sometimes radical, sometimes very subtle process of transformation in all areas of our social, church and personal lives. The Corona pandemic in particular has once again brought this home and led to a sharp increase in digital communication in many areas of life.  What can theological reflection contribute to the analysis, conceptualization, and evaluation of the emerging logics and narratives of the digital age?
