On the Occasion of the Editor’s 70th Birthday
This issue of Transcultural Studies features a first contribution to an untitled series of essays that we have put together to felicitate Rudolf G. Wagner, the journal’s editor and one of the Cluster’s directors during its first phase. This is a small token of our appreciation for his invaluable contribution to the life of the Cluster, and for his stimulating and helpful presence among us. In the first offering of this series Roland Wenzlhuemer tells the story of a particular and fascinating genre: ship newspapers produced during long intercontinental journeys, which offer us an unexpected glimpse of this social microcosm in transit. Here’s wishing you a good read and look out for more to come!
