Eine neue Deutung von Caravaggios Amor vincitore
Abstract Going beyond the existing interpretations, the painting is to be interpreted as a response to the invectives against Michelangelo’s “Last Judgement”. Caravaggio responds to the numerous counter-Reformation attacks, but also to those invectives that questioned the artist because of his homosexuality. In the process, hitherto unconsidered sources are added to the interpretation.
